SAS supports the process of translating scientific discoveries, inventions, and innovations into marketable products, services, or technologies that address real-world needs, generate economic value, and benefit society.

The Grossman Innovation Prize is a proof-of-concept fund that provides early-stage support to faculty innovation. The prize is designed to enable innovators to develop nascent product ideas to the proof-of-concept stage, where they may become eligible for venture capital funding and/or spin-off as independent businesses. It provides up to $50,000 to fund the chosen project. All SAS faculty are eligible to apply.

We encourage applications for the support of new technologies and endeavors that are grounded in faculty research and that show promise as innovative offerings in the broader marketplace. Funded faculty are expected to meet development targets in one calendar year and, upon completion of that year, are strongly encouraged to submit to the Rutgers I-Corps program. They are also expected to work with the University Office of Research Commercialization to secure intellectual property rights and, if appropriate, pursue commercialization.
